Julie's house

Julie's house

'Julie's House' was painted above the door of the dollhouse Julie got for her birthday as a little girl. In her imagination it became her own little cake shop. That is how the dream started. Her love for pastry and sweets only grew when she started training at famous culinary schools ‘Spermalie’ and ‘Ter Groene Poorte’. Once she earned her official title as a pastry chef, she started gaining experience for a couple of years, but soon felt ready to take the big step. At age 25, Julie found the perfect romantic spot in Kraanlei, a street in the historical center of Ghent, and thus 'Julie's House’ became a reality.

Baked with love,
Served with joy

The place to be......

The cake shop in the city center grew out to be the place to be for homemade cakes and colorful cupcakes. Once ‘Julie's House’ made a name for itself, she saw room for growth and Julie opened a second store. This time, easily accessible by car, at Koningin Elisabethlaan near the train station. The lovely pastry was now also ready to be taken out from this area and enjoyed at home. For catering to larger parties, she then came up with a new concept, named 'Julie’s Sweet Table'. The name 'Julie's House’ became more and more famous and the pastries were delivered further and further away. Other coffee shops and tea houses all around the Flanders region soon started to sell her artisanal product range, to pair with their own brews! After 10 years of baking and growing, the little kitchen in the original setting became too small. Julie transformed that place to create more seating and opened a brand-new professional bakery at Wiedauwkaai, from where the team could once more bake all the goodies fresh for delivery upon many a table’s.

Julie's future....

Julie's House now is bigger than little Julie could ever have dreamed. Yet she is still that same dreamer who never sits still. Eager to jump in at any time in one of the stores or the bakery to make sure quality prevails, time and time again. On busy days in the cake shop, she still serves breakfasts with a smile herself. But most of all Julie keeps on thinking about new concepts. For with her daily piece of cake, still come the best of ideas. Who knows what the future may bring?
